Free Ways to Support the BLM Movement

I’m sure over the past month many of us have been itching to do our part to help support the Black Lives Matter movement, but not everybody has the means to contribute and it’s left many wondering, what can we do?

SIGN PETITIONS:

Signing petitions is the fastest and easiest thing you can do to help the movement, and you can do it all from your bed! https://blacklivesmatters.carrd.co has links to multiple petitions across many countries which you can sign from wherever you are, but don’t stop there! There are plenty of other websites like https://www.change.org where new petitions are published every day.

PROTESTING:

Protesting is a great way to show your support in person for the movement, however it is definitely not the safest. It is important that all precautions are taken to stop the spread of Coronavirus and against police violence. https://newssafety.org/safety/advisories/how-to-protect-yourself-while-covering-protests/ has a comprehensive guide on how to protect your identity, stay safe from harm and know your rights, it is vital to read if you are planning on attending a protest in America. Even though overseas protests generally do not have to take the same precautions to evade police violence it is still a possibility. Wherever you are it is important to be vigilant about coronavirus, though now in the back of our minds the threat still prevails. Whether protesting or not, please wear masks, regularly sanitize and social distance when possible to help slow the spread and protect yourself.

REGISTER TO VOTE:

While this option is only available to American citizens, it is one of the most effective ways to create change. With the upcoming election it is incredibly important for everyone over the age of 18 to vote in the next presidential election. Approximately 100 million abled adults did not vote in the 2016 election, just imagine how different the result could have been. To register to vote in your state, visit https://vote.gov. The next presidential election is going to be held on Tuesday, November 3rd. Please ensure you vote to bring progressive change to America and protect the millions of minorities who are threatened by the current government.

WATCH YOUTUBE VIDEOS:

If you still want to donate money but have none to give, a few youtubers have set up videos riddled with ads which you can leave playing on mute in the background. The proceeds of these videos will be distributed to organizations which will use the funds to support the movement. Please try not to skip any ads to ensure the most amount of money is raised! This is a great tool that does not require any effort but provides a big help to those who need it. Visit this link to watch while donating: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKRGnoz_JnI

Staying educated on these issues and continuing to share information with your friends, family, and social media followers helps keep the movement in the forefront of everybody’s minds. It’s integral to continue to support the Black Lives Matter movement even if it is not on your feed anymore. Please explore the https://blacklivesmatters.carrd.co website for more information and links to support the movement.
